Don’t know what to trust right now
these apparitions in my heart
and wild, flighty dreams
Moving at rapid shape-shifting pace
All details coming at me at once
Flying past me in abundance
and though I’m not often afraid
The supernatural here
are out to get me - everywhere
around every corner and crevice
Senses heightened
I see every fissure
Every rock
Every speck of sand
as it falls through my fingertips
right out of my hands
spraying onto hard-packed dirt floor
I know not if there will be more
Only that this dream is not stopping
Moving at rapid shape-shifting pace
Tunnels, pathways, caves…
Déjà vu, I remember this chase
but can’t remember, cannot tell-
Who is chasing who in this hell?
The details get clearer
while I try to rip myself from sleep
But it’s difficult,
I’m in so deep
and even when I wake
this feeling lingers with me
Around hallways and corners
and rooms filled with light,
I take it all back again
into midnight flight
